TR7 Barn find

Hi folks from Australia. I've been a Triumph owner for about 7 years. Originally a 2500 TC auto. A really nice car and one that I has aspired to own since a teenager. About 5 years ago I sold that and bought a Stag with the Rover 3500 engine change. New paint and several tweaks and an enjoyable weekend tourer. About 12 months ago I found myself wandering around ads for classic cars for sale and came upon a TR7. It was manufactured in 1981 and brought to Australia in 1992 with just 2500 miles on the clock. It was put away in a shed on a dairy farm when the owner passed away until a friend acquired it about 5 years ago. I bought it from him. It now has just 26000 miles on the clock, its paintwork is pristine, and there is no rust anywhere. Myintention is to work from the back forward replacing rubber bushes, fuel lines, maybe the fuel tank, and methodically get it back on the road. So that's me folks. Look forward to your advice/assistance as the project advances.

welcome. sounds like a great find and a great project. TR7s I hope are finally getting the recognition they deserve - I know they are certainly growing on me. welcome!

Hello and Welcome to the forum.

So you got a Stag with the engine it should have had from the start. Great looking car.

You will find the Triumph section is very active so you are sure to get plenty of tips and advice for your TR7 project.

Thanks David...yes the Stag would have had the Rover engine if the Triumph execs weren't so bloody minded.
I also think it would have suited the Triumph 6 which was well proven .
Ah well...politics.

Jeromy Clarkson did a video on the Stag.

Sorry about it starting in the middle I let it play all the way through then opened the you tube video again to get the link but it still starts were I left off.

That's weird. I can understand it starting in the middle for you based on the cookies on your computer, but I don't know why it starts half way through for other people. I didn't know it would do that.
