Wow, that's something. 40+ years and 200K+ miles. I would like to get enough confidence in my TR4A to take it on long trips--but it will just take some time to finish sorting it out. Back in the 60s, I had a TR4A and drove it all over the east coast; never had a problem with it.
 
4/9/22 will be 42 yrs currently 383,725 by 4/9 hopefully 385K+:smile:

1st 5yrs of ownership spent sorting out (chose to get it done vs spreading it out over 10-15 yrs) so I could enjoy the pleasure of DRIVING. The original owners sons diy budget came up some interesting things once sorted to my taste I found the more I drove the better it ran seems the short drives stop & go clutching/braking around town was the hardest on it after my 1st long distance Seattle to Lk Tahoe (easy on mechanical parts 70 mph no shifting clutching braking) at destination car ran better than attribute it to driving long enough to get that cast iron engine block hot enough to blow out all the short trip stop & go carbon build up.

You said it about yourelf "TR4A in the 60s Drove It all over the east coast" I often suggest to TRIUMPH owners fill up your tank drive a distance where you have but a 1/4 tank left (stay over should you need) fill up & return home you will feel a difference, have had several say after a long distance TRip how well the TR ran or best it's ever ran of all the LBCs TRIUMPH is TRuly the marque that not only likes to be DRIVEN but Demands to be DRIVEN
 
Yes I think you are right about driving them when I get this tr3 back on the road I am going take your advice.

Very impressive (y) Had a '67 4A. first new car I ever bought, was my daily driver until..... That car went thru blizzards(carried a snow shovel in the ski rack in winter), dirt roads, ski trips, camping trips and never missed a beat. It met a sad end.
