Can anyone tell me if the crankshaft pulley can be removed without a special tool and if so how?
many thanks
Pete

I have done it a couple of times without a tool. If you can pry or wedge 180 degrees opposite the key you'll have a better chance of getting it started.

I just had my crankshaft pulley off a few weeks ago.
You will need to remove the radiator, and fan. Then you will have to remove the large crank bolt. I used the setup below to keep the pulley from turning to loosen the bolt.
The pulley will come off with some gentle taps... it fits over a woodruff key. Use caution when tapping it off; once it is loose, you will be able to pull it straight off.
Oh, one more important item... you will of course have to remove the large diameter cross member in order for the pulley to be able to come off.

Re: TR6 chassis

Its me again
I have a TR6 frame which i checked using the Triumph repair manual. It would appear to be within tolerances, however before i set about strengthening the rear diff mounts and getting it blasted and painted. Does anyone know of a place around central Florida where i can get it double checked on a machine?.
Many thanks
Pete

Re: TR6 chassis

Many thanks for that.
Ok i have managed to take of the crankcase pulley and remove the timing cover.Any suggestions as to removing the oil sleeve
Pete

Re: TR6 chassis

The same and the same as well for the timing chain sprocket.

Re: TR6 chassis

Ok After renewing the timing chain, tensioner, and oil seal. Then the steering uj started her up.......... first time i might add, all's well, running great until i discover i had forgot to put the probe for the electric fan back in. so in my rush i hole the radiator...............................arrggggggggggggggggggggg

Re: TR6 chassis

Ok this is where i need to tap people for information on the following. After i holed the rad i decided to take the head off. Don't ask! It has had low oil pressure for sometime, and burning a little oil.
When i removed the head i noticed that the block is recessed, is that right for a 73?
Engine number stamped on the block is CF9911UE
Also i found the following marks on the top of the pistons
Starting from the radiator end
Piston 1 B X18
piston 2 B X21
piston 3 B X22
piston 4 B X20
piston 5 A X21
piston 6 A X21

As for the head
V3287
103
stanpart
312388
1664
The above are on the outside of the rocker cover

2 N
B (in a circle)
i would greatly appreciate any info
There does not seem to be much in the way of play in the bores and no lip at the top of the liners

Re: TR6 chassis

IIRC a Circle "B" head was a good thing?
