The only thing below the front bumper was a black “spoiler” that I know of.

To be more specific, the spoiler I'm referring to is black plastic and not metal if that helps.

No, no trim in those openings. Some have put expanded metal mesh inside the front valence to protect the radiator from road debris but there was nothing there originally.
