I should be finished working on my aluminum cap for the windsheild shortly. I know that the type of adhesive has been discussed recently, but where is the adhesive normally placed? I took mine off last summer, and there was just one small strip across the area where the rivits are. If this is correct, what stops the thing from rattling while driving down the road?

Kevin, the pop rivets will snug it down quite tightly. With that small bead of sealant and the rivets, it won't rattle. Make certain that you use all-aluminum pop rivets so you won't get rust.
