TR6 TR6 windscreen rubber seal help

I need some help with the rubber seals that go down the windshield frame and ends about where the door courtesy light switch is. 1) the original seals on the car are 1". The new ones I bought are 1 1/8". Which is the correct width? Does it even matter? 2) What is the best type of glue to use on these? What ever was use previously didn't seem to hold very well. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I use 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive Black 051135 08011. Works great. As for the 1/8" trim it off if you don't like it. I don't think it will make any difference though. Just get the round part in the right place.
