TR6 TR6 wind blocker design

I look at the wind blocker as a poor man's surrey top. If it works for you, go for it.

I drive top off, side curtains off, with tonneau on (to hide my pink tights).

Peter, I hate to tell you this, but with the side curtains off, tonneau on and the cut down doors on the TR3, unless you're in the passenger's seat all scrunched over, YOU AIN'T HIDING NOTHING! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

I,m not sure that photo lives up to the Basil family values campaign!

kodanja, I like yours and have wondered about mounting something like that on the roll bar.

Tom, I made a 'quick and dirty' wind-blocker to use when my girlfriend wants to accompany me on long drives. You can see pictures of it in the 'Triumphowners' link at the bottom of my posts. It simply velcros to the rollbar.

In that type of attachment, it does squeak a bit now and then. I need to put some sort of soft seal between the Plexiglas and the roll bar to quiet it down. Once in a while the velcro needs 'snugging' to keep it tight.

I simply made a cardboard template, bought an appropriate size of Plexiglas (I used Lexan actually), traced the pattern and cut it out. Sanded down the edges to make it look nice and be smooth and easy to handle. Drilled some holes in the areas I wanted the velcro to go through, oval-ed them out for the velcro straps and Voila!

The hardest part was finding the right velcro. Went to three different sewing supply/fabric stores before I found the right type of straps that worked for me.

At night, they can sometimes cause a reflection of the headlights of oncoming traffic that makes it look like there is a car behind you in the rearview mirror. A little strange, but you can get used to it.

Peter,

Nice design. I hope you aren't using plexiglass, and are using Lexan or polycarbonate. Plexi shatters dangerously.

I don't have a 6 and my 4A has a surrey, so I have no plans for a wind blocker. Just posted the link for others.

Peter -

Have you thought about how it might work with your TR3?

I don't wear pink shirts, but I think its a good idea.

The wind blocker, that is, not the pink shirts...

We have a roll bar in the 3. And if it's too windy, we put up the top. But I suppose it would work in a 3 as well.
