TR6 TR6 Weber 45 MCHH Conversion Kit

Anyone experience installing the Weber Direct 45MCHH Kit?

At a price of $299 it is very competitive instead of having both Strombergs polished and totally rebuilt

The Tech Line is never answered so maybe someone out there did some research which would be helpful. Maybe they are just too busy.

The conversion started out bad since the choke cable had to be shortened 1/2" and a wicked leaking carb which Weber Direct had to replace. (float height was correct)

The engine is running a little too rich but I am not sure if I need to re-jet it or make an screw adjustment.

None of the Weber manuals out there show a breakdown of this particular Weber.

The car starts and runs OK and throttle response is much better than the Strombergs. The chrome carb and filter finish looks very nice and everything in the Kit fits perfect.

Third problem is there is no provision to connect the Vacuum line for the distributor which makes for a harder start. This is my next problem to solve.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes I have the same Issue with my TR6 and triple DCOE. I ended up drilling holds thru the carb body on the air filter side and hooking hoses up with no noticible help on vacuum advance.

I have left numerous voice mails and today finally an email.
Handling customers is not that hard. At least try to help them out.
It's easy just communicate a fix and the customer has some direction good or bad.
In-addition, there is a lack of Weber 45MCHH Carb schematics for this application.
I am normally a good natured person. You have to be to drive and maintain a 30+ yr old car.
So, buyer beware. If you do not know a lot about Webers then make sure you take your car to a reputable shop that can deal with Weber issues.
Thanks.

I've not run across the MCHH yet. Plenty of DCOE's tho.

Don't know a thing about Weber MCHH. I had some DCOE's on my TR4 some years ago. The vacuum advance Lucas dizzy would not work so I used a Mallory Dual Point mechanical advance (sorry I don't dig electronics all that much). The Weber is gone but I still use the Mallory.

Every time I read about Webers I am so very happy that I had my Strombergs polished and totally rebuilt. When I got them back from Jeff I installed them and made a couple minor adjustments. Now three years and close to 20,000 miles later they have been great. I just love a car that I can drive instead of tinker with.

With the MCHH's you might be better off talking to a mechanic at a Harley Davidson shop than an automotive Weber specialist. That carb was originally designed for big cube V-Twins.

Awww, c'mon, Tom!! Once DCOE Webers are set up there's NOTHIN' left t' tinker with on 'em!

SU's are great carbs, easy to adjust and hold an adjustment. Webers are great carbs, a bit harder to dial in but more options in fine tuning in my experience.
Dual barrel side draft Solex's otoh were designed by satan.
