Two questions. I have a 69 TR6 built Jan 1 1969 vin CC29843 L. Anyone have an idea where in the number of 69s built this would fall?

Also mine has an overdrive in the car. Thought there was a "O" or a zero at the end of the vin that would designate that it has a factory overdrive?

Check out the International Triumph TR Registry.

International Triumph TR Registry

They show the first TR6 as CC25001 produced in September 1968 so yours would be number 4843.

Regarding the overdrive, it looks like someone added an overdrive transmission to your car later since the commission number should have an O at the end (LO for left-hand drive overdrive cars) if it came with an overdrive from the factory.

However, the "someone" might have been the dealer. The factory did supply kits so the dealers could install them, and generally they did not alter the commission number when they did.

Good info guys! Looks like it's been in there a long time. I tend to think that TR3driver's explanition is the correct one. I'll find out when I start the tear down and restore the car.

Does it have the overdrive flag on the back? That could help decide whether dealer installed. Of course anyone could add that but just another clue.

There are no flags or badges on the rear. I think this had an Earl Scheib paint job. All those things that were in the way of painting were taken off and never put back on. I never got them in the deal. The PO started a restoration in 1982 in a local body shop and never returned. So that's how I got the car in a started restoration.

Thanks I eventually was going to need that pic. Took a run out to the garage for a look and all the holes are filled in. I bought an overdrive badge for my TR250 because I eventually wanted an overdrive for it. I tried to find the badge but couldn't. I wanted to see if it had it's own mounting pins or for some reason I was thinking there were two holes and it slips over the Triumph badge pins.

My 250 is a overdrive car, I want to say (will check)the badges are the same. Might even have a spare o/d badge somewhere but let me find it first before I say I have it for sure.

I'm pretty sure it uses the Triumph badge pins. So are you giong to have to change your username now?
