TR6 TR6 Vibration in Drive Train

I am suffering with a bad vibration which I suspect is in the drive train. It starts about 52mph and is road speed sensitive, indepent of which gear I am in, or even coasting. It appears to be in the right rear?

What I have done so far is swap wheels F/B and L/R. I also replaced the right side half shaft and installed new U-joints in the right shaft. I also have taken the main drive shaft in to a reputable sho and had it dynamically rebalanced ( it was out due to adiition of a grease fitting by PO). The vibration changed slightly after the driveline work, but only a little better.

So I need some help. What am I missing?

Have you checked the right front mount for your differential. If this is badly cracked, you would be in for a catastrophic failure. This would be a worst case senario. How about the five bolts that attach your hub to the aluminum swing arm. These oft wobble out and might need to be HeliCoiled back in. Another bad thing if it happens at speed. Has anyone fooled with your rear alignment lately. If this is out of whack, vibration could occur. I would get under the car with a really strong flashlight to check the diff mount first. If this is the problem, there will be many opinions out there on the fix. Tain't easy. Boy, I am just a happy fellow today. Good luck.

It could very well be the rear hub assembly itself. Having suffered a complete failure on my right rear wheel hub assembly many years ago, it started with the same vibration at higher speeds. Just a thought.

After some differential work on my car about 2 years ago, I drove my car from the shop and noticed a shaking that began right about ideal freeway speed. A little slower and I didn't notice, a little faster and it also went away, but at ideal speed the car was a big massage chair. I took it back to the shop and told the mechanic about this new development. Turns out it was a bad U-joint ("sticking" or "defective"-I don't remember what he said). So he fixed it no charge (but only after replacing a "bent rim" and an alignment job which changed nothing). Car was fine after that. So that's one possibility.
 
Hello Geof,

the favourite cause of vibration with the Triumph set up is faulty U\J's, you mention the right but not the left? Certainly I would check the rear hubs for play, there should be no real movement.
