I am trying to remove the vent lid so that I can put in a new gasket. I removed the three bolts, but no luck - this does come off, correct?

Three bolts out, then prize the spring out on each end. Lid may be stuck to the rubber and you have to put some pressure on it to pop it loose. Unless they have improved the gasket, the lid will probably not sit right when you put it all back together. New gaskets have been to big and make the lid sit up.

Forgot, there is the control rod with the keeper on it, thats fun to put back on as well. You'll see it.

Hondo,

I assume he means the fresh air/scuttle vent lid on the early TR6 (69-72?).

Kevin,

Been too long since I've removed mine on the TR4A which should be the same, but I thought it was just remove the 3 bolts, disconnect the rod and disconnect the spring to remove.

Sorry - I used the name the catalog listed. Yes, I am referring to the fresh air vent. I disconnected the control rod and pushed out the two spring connections on either end. I always worry I am going to break something when I use too much force. You mentioned that the new gaskets are too big - is there any remedy for this other than raising the lid with washers or small plate?

Marvin,
I wish I had known that! I played with my new gasket quite some time before moving on. I thought I had failed to seat it properly. So, I will say they have not improved. I leave my scuttle vent lid up anyway...

Don't think Kevin will be doing that in the Winter here.
