TR6 TR6 Trunk Lock Striker

Dumb question but when I close the trunk lid of my TR6 it does not latch. However, if I lock the trunk the latch holds. Is that the design? Seems like id want it to latch while closed in case I go over a bump but there might be an expectation that one should always lock the trunk.

No, something wrong it should latch when closed. When locked it prevents the button lock from being pushed in not really locking anything but preventing “unlatching".

Famously ,a lubrication issue, do all hinges too while you're at it.
