TR6 TR6 trailing arm bushing installation help

Perhaps it was best that this was a voluntary withdrawal from our so called "amateur" ranks. That way no hard feelings for being ignored or asked to leave.

The Boss has spoken and that about sums it up.

Now back to more important matters.

Kevin, take your time and make sure that you lube and align everything carefully before starting to torque it down. If it starts to go in on an angle, it will bind as indicated by the others.

I'll take a room full of us amateurs sharing experience over any professional who thinks there's only one answer. :driving:
Ironically, he didn't even give an answer. Just that he thought soap wouldn't work. Sounded like he hadn't even tried it either, so he had no experience to draw on.

Basil.....what bases where you at and when? My son did 13 years in starting as an Airman and working his way up to Captain before deciding to get out.

Kevin,

A number of years ago I also struggled to install these uprated bushings. I was getting nowhere with a 3/4 pipe clamp, so I called an acquaintance from work who had a machine shop set up in his basement that belonged to his dad, for advice. He offered to use his 10-ton press to install the bushings. All we managed to do was separate the steel sleeve from one of the bushing. While we were discussing our next plan of action, his dad comes down, sees what we had done and says,"Use some dishwashing liquid." We had the remaining three bushings in in about 20 minutes.
