TR6 TR6 Top Speed?

I've had it to the (indicated) ton before my courage gave out. Based on driving other - newer and faster - cars on the same stretch of road, it was closer to 90 than to 100. Felt like 150 though!

That was before the engine mods and suspension rebuild. It was wandering across 2 lanes and I was about as scared as I'd been in anything, ever.

I too would be curious to know how fast it will go. I know the PIs at 150hp were good for about 120. With an all out racer now pushing 250hp on triple Webers, they ought to be good for a little more than that.

I guess we should ask TRED. I'll bet his TR6 will do 170 easily. Probably in 2nd gear /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I believe the fastest I have had my TR6 is 147 mph, and it did feel fast.
I had my new engine on a chassis dyno a couple of weeks ago and at 6000 RPM the dyno read 163 mph. If I put a 6500RPM chip in the rev limiter it should go about 176 mph.
29.3" slick with a 3.00 gear
Looks like I have a bunch of work to do to control all the air, but I plan to sneak up on the MPH a little at a time.
Still have a bit of tuning to do but it made 689 HP to the wheels

The fastest I've been in my TR6 is 0 mph. I love these stories of high speed, but I will be content if I can just get it up and running around the block at 30mph /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I did take my BMW 323i on the Autobahn years ago and wound it up to 250 kph (about 150 mph?) ... everything was happening so quickly at that speed it was a knuckle-whitening experience. Even a slight curve in the road produces a significant lateral force, and a firm grip on the wheel was essential. I remember in particular seeing a speck in the distance that looked like a truck, moving into the fast lane, and almost immediately I was on top of it having to brake quite hard to avoid ramming it ... he'd just moved out to overtake a slower truck, and was doing a respectable 120 kph or so. It makes me shudder just remembering it!

Bumping a old thread today, since 2007 the highest speed my highly modified TR6 has been on the 1/4 mile has been
157mph.
I was searching for TR6 aerodynamic information and came across this old thread, and reason for the search is I signed up for the Chicago 1/2 mile 6-22-14.
Guess I will see what a car that looks a little like a TR6 will do at speed, thinking it will go in the 170's at around 15 psi of boost.
If all go's well and the car feels safe I may even try and see if I can hook with more boost!
