TR6 TR6 Top rubber window seals

Can someone describe/post a pic/PM me the correct positioning of the rubber seals on the side rails of the top?

I'm replacing the hood and was meticulous with bagging/labeling hardware and didn't notice that the rubber pieces were asymmetrical.

Here you go... let me know if you need additional photo's and I'll take them for you...
Further note: the seal is "J" shaped, and the tail of the "J" points inwards on each side.

I'd like to respectfully disagree. The purpose of the "J" portion is to provide a flexible seal for the side window to compress against, therefore it should be on the outside.

Dave, I'd have to agree with you. I'm not that familiar with the TR6, but the Herald convertible top frame has essentially the same seals, and they are oriented as you describe.

Well, that is a surprise to me to then!
I guess that's what happens when you inherit problems like this from previous owners.
I took them off and re-installed them the same way I got them not knowing any better.
Looks like I will have a little project over the winter.
Sure hope its not to late for cmacmillan.

Hahahaha! That'll teach me to check the forum over the weekend! I did the final install last night. I have to think it's not going to be a huge issue - especially given it's just sitting stationary in a garage for the foreseeable future. Also installed a snap upside down - I'll have to take it all off when I paint it. Right now I'm just pleased it looks pretty good for a DYI job...will post a pic.

actually, while I'm here - any tricks to getting that header rail rubber seal into place? The channels seem to small and sharp to slide it in...not to mention the gaps between the side channels and the centre channel.

I think you're pretty much stuck with getting one side in as best you can and pushing the other side in with a dull screwdriver or popsicle stick or similar!

That's what I figured...I guess in the grand scheme of replacing a top, it's not the worst step to be stuck on!

Just got mine turned around- It was pretty easy... I pulled out the rubber then used some warm soapy water and they slid back into the channels.
Again, sorry for the confusion.

No problem at all! Good thinking on the warm soapy water...will do the same.
