Sorry if I'm rehashing an old topic, but I need to
replace the tires on my '74-1/2 TR6.
I'm one of the few people who like the handling of the original Michelins. What's the best way to go for an econonomical replacment for the original tires?

- Doug

Coker Tires in TN is licensed to make the original looking red line TR6 Michelin tires. You can find a number of tires that will out perform the red lines for a lot less $'s but they will not have the original red line side wall and there are slight size differences.

Hello Doug,

I would just like to echo your sentiments.
I also prefer the standard width as I feel the car handles better. There seems to be a popular view that bigger(read wider) is better. That is not a view I share.

There is absolutely no comparison between the handling of my TR6 with the old Michelin's compared to the new Goodyear 205/70/15. I don't know how the new style Coker's will react, but in this case it isn't even close.

The ride quality alone is night and day, but the originals were rock hard, so again, the Coker tires may be different.

I know this has been asked many times before, and I really feel stupid for not getting it, but I still can't figure out what the answer is.

What present-day tire size is the closest to the original red lines?

Thanks.
