TR6 TR6 Tire Recommendation?

Hello Everyone,
I am a newbie with a newbie type question. I just recently purchased a '74 TR6 that has tires that were barely capable of getting the car off the truck that brought it to my place. I've searched and it appears the size used most often is 205/70 R15. Does anyone have any recommendations on tire size, tire brand, performance. This car is likely to be used as a Sunday driver.

Welcome, I have 205/70R-15 on my TR6. I use BF Goodrich Traction T/A's A terrific tire at a resonable price. If you are not sure about size and what it will do to your speedo check out this site https://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Tire size calculator Its pretty good you can compare tire and wheel sizes to see what the changes do to your speedo. Good luck Ab
 
I have P185/65R-15 Pirelli's on my 73 TR6
I believe Pirellis were OEM though not this size.
I think thy're called P6
Rides well and corners great on my Sunday drives.
Thye look like they belong on the car too.
 
I'm using Yokohma Avid T4 (205/70TR15), which is considered a performance all-season tire. It handles well and is quiet. The diameter of the tire is nearly identical to the orginal tires, plus they don't look like skinny little sticks from the back of the car.
 
I still mave M's redlines and they look great. While newer tires will handle much better (the redlines are 60's technology at best), the redlines handle reasonably well & I'm not a wimpy driver. They're pretty expensive however.
 
ZM, I highly recommend 205/70 Michelin Hydroedge. Great brakes, wet and dry traction. Agressive tread, fills wheel well nicely, no rubbing (my car is lowered too). Pricey but lots of miles out of them. Had Pirelli's: looked good, good dry traction, zero wet traction, lasted 8000 miles.

Can't beat Michelin.
