TR6 TR6 Timing issues

I've driven a couple of TR6's with the DGV's and although they may not provide more overall power than the ZS carbs, the accelerator pump and the 2nd barrel does improve the acceleration rate. At least that was my impression.
 
I just went out and started it up. The idle was somewhere around 600 RPM's, but it didn't die, nor did the ignition light come on. After a little bit the idle increased and the vacuum came up to 16 inches. I took it for a spin and the power was more than acceptable. After all the things I tried and adjustments made this came out much better than I had hoped for. I want to thank you for all your help and wisdom. I thought I was going to have to buy a couple of rebuild kits, so you saved me some money too.
 
Sounds like you've got her fiured out for now. You going to make it next weekend and what are ya bringin, car that is.

Me, I've been putting together some tools and spares for my road trip to the TRials in Ohio. Leaving Wednesday morning and hope to make it back home sometime Monday.
I hope your engine behaves itself in the meantime.

Thanks. Yes. That one is a Microplas with triplex glass. I was planning on putting the FG section on for the TRip, but for some reason it doesn't line up like it once did; so I'm going with the soft top surrey.
 
Thats interesting, I have the same brand surrey on my 6 with the plexiglass and my hd top fits good but the softtop is like it shrunk length wise. It's about 2 inches too short in the back. I tried stretching it in the sun on a good hot day but that didn't work.
 
Did you get it from the guy in Loredo, like me ?
My soft top was also too short by about 3 inches. I had a shop add a section so it would fit.
I've been complaing to the Texas guy for months. One excuse after the other.
Now his son is on the case with his own set of excuses, yet he tells me he's having another one made that will fit.
The FG top's threaded holes that go over the backlight frame holes are a bit off/ When it gets cool down here, probably January, I'm going to work on the threaded holes. Maybe fill the old ones and drill and tap new ones.
 
Same guy. I had to enlarge the holes on the front windshield frame and then the HD lined up ok. The ragtop fit good from the front windshield to the middle frame support that has the snaps. From there on back it was short. I'll take mine to a shop and have a piece inserted, didn't know if it was possible until you told me that. It took about 5 weeks for me to get the surrey. He shipped it by Greyhound and it got lost. First time I tracked it down it was in Arizona. A few weeks later it was in Ohio. What an delivery operation they have. I was just happy to finally get it.
 
Terry that would be fine I'm not sure if I can be there first thing I think that my wife works until 4:30 you might go a head and we'll see you there.
 
Yeah that's the way my soft top fit. They put the extension near the back. They used the same kind of material, but it has a few puckers from the contour.
Anyway, I think it will keep me dry.
I changed to the TR4 windshield cap so I could tuck the bead into the slot and not use all those snaps. I can tell you this, it stays on at 80 mph
 
Ken, is the maker's name common knowledge or are you waiting to see if he makes good.
 
I also used the TR4 windshield cap. That part works real well. The biggest issue I've had is with the seals that go around the door windows. I've had to pretty much makeup my own.
 
He's in Loredo, Texas, Don, Sometimes he'll say San Antonio if it shows up on Ebay.
