TR6 steering rack rebuild questions
Hello,
I recently had to rebuild my steering rack. It was just about as much to have TRF rebuild as it was for the parts, so I had them do it. The outer tie rods were shot, and I wasn't sure about the inner tie rods. The pinion gear was so loose that I could spin it with my fingers. Now it is much tighter - I have to attach the union to get it to turn. I have two questions: 1)Do you normally have to add any oil to the pinion after it is rebuilt? 2)The pinion doesn't turn real smooth. I can feel the pinion mesh as it turns with the rack - is this normal? I am hoping to have this car up and running this weekend after almost a year of sitting in my garage, and I don't feel like waiting to contact TRF next week. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
