TR6 TR6 Starter Solenoid

After lunch today went to start my 6 today and nothing. Finally figured out that one of the wires or my starter solenoid was loose. Put it back on the starter solenoid and it started. However the white/yellow wire that goes to the coil broke the little clip on the starter solenoid. Should I be worried about getting another starter solenoid since the wire connection broke off? Ideas will be appreciated. Thanks.Eric

The schematic shows the W/Y wire supplying voltage to the coil when the starter is engaged.
Without that circuit, you may be getting the somewhat reduced voltage from the ballast resistor wire during starter operation.
If that's the case, there might be occasions where the engine is slow to start, like in the Winter.

Just tie/tape it off, so it can't touch anything and leave it that way. IMO you'll never notice the difference in starting unless it's well below freezing. TR2-early TR6 didn't even have that function, and my TR3A would start even after spending the night outdoors in 20F weather (as long as the battery had some juice in it).

Alright thanks guys. The car lately has been starting a little harder then usual. Just another day of driving a british sports car. Already replaced an alternater this week.
