Hello,

I have a 69 TR6, and I have some questions concerning a spolier. 1) What is the purpose of a spoiler besides making the car look nicer? 2) Were they offered as an option for a 69? 3)When installing, do any holes have to be drilled? 4) What is a reasonable price for one of these?

Hey Kevin.

The 69 did not come with an air dam or spoiler. These were added later. TRF supposedly is re-manufacturing the OE plastic spoiler and it is quite nice. You might have to call to see if they are in stock and how much.
Before TRF came up with their air dam, there were none available unless you went with used goods. I found a company online that builds fiberglass parts such as tops and spoilers for the TR6. I bought their spoiler, very reasonable price, and have used it for 6 years. Very pleased with the quality, and again, cheap. Now, for the life of me, I cannot remember their name. Someone on the forum will come up with it. Something like Streamline, or something.
 
And, yes, you will have to drill 5 holes in the bottom of your front sheet metal. No biggie.
 
I'm not sure what good they are besides looking kinda cool...

They made really nice fenders too but I think he only sells tops now except for old stock.
 
They were introduced in 1973 but a lot of owners had their older cars updated so they can be thought of as universal in some ways. As far as being effective... they can reduce front end lift over 80mph, helping with high speed stability. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

They can also help direct more air into the radiator to improve airflow and cooling.
 
I hope Tinster has one, he seems to be going well over 80 in his videos!
