Just about to reinstall the rebuilt carbs, right now the jets are set flush is this an ok initial setting? I have removed all the smog/ vaccume stuff..... what is a good starting point for the carb settings?

Solex??

Perhaps you mean zenith stromberg. Good site to review is buckeyetriumph.org they have a good pictorial writeup on carb setup and adjustment

I wuz gonna say...unless you put a 2.4L Jaguar into it, having SolexeS isn't quite normal.

Post caught my attention as I have twin Solexes.

And you'd beter have all the jets bottomed out except the mixture on a Solex.

But, I wax long.......

Of course, there were any number of British cars that used Solex carburetors as well, including many Standard and Triumph family cars (Vanguard, Mayflower, Herald, etc.). The early uses of our beloved six (Vanguard Six, Vitesse/Sports 6) featured pairs of Solex semi-downdraught carburetors while Triumph was busy developing what became the Zenith-Stromberg carburetor, supposedly because BMC was charging Triumph too much for SUs!
