A question on seats in a 1975 TR6. At 6 ft tall, I can't get the seat back as far as I would like. And for my son at 6 ft 5 in, it is almost impossible for him to drive. A prior owner replaced the original seats with seats from a Miata. With the seat back as far as possible, there is about 2 inches behind the back of the seat and rear shelf. The seat is stopped from going further back by the wheel well. Did the original TR6 seats go past the wheel all to the rear shelf? Any ideas?

I sympathise with you on that one. I went to the enormous expense of fitting Sofolk seats from Moss but that didn't help. The only way that I can get anywhere near comfort is to remove the Radio mount/ dash support. I can get into my TR3 much more easly

With the OEM seats on TR 6's it will not go past the wheel well and at fully back to about 4 inches to the shelf and 2 inches to wheel well. I did go to a 12 steering wheel for more leg room and ease of getting in. I am not tall so my seat works well but was harder to get in with top up and the 12 SW helped. The smaller wheel did make parking harder but gave me room for my knee between door and wheel on lone runs. Is it just getting in or with the peddles also?? I have seen TR 6 with the radio dash support removed. I do not remember what they did with the shift lever. Madflyer

Miata seats are a better fit than the originals, so that's a good start. There are 2 options. Both require a fair amount of work. The seat backs [frame] can be modified on the outside to gain a small amount. The wheel well can be cut and reshaped giving the most benefit.[seat tracks modified also]
