TR6 TR6 Seatbelts

I think it is wise to replace the seatbelts in my 75 TR6 before I actually take it out for a drive (so no urgency given my current rate of progress!) and I am trying to work out what is the best option. It seem that Securon are the only real choice, but which ones? The Securon website says 514/30, but I have seen people saying that 500/30 is a better choice. Does anyone have any actual experience of fitting either of these?

I took one of the old ones apart, which was interesting, and some cleaning and the like made it work a little better, and I am sure with some careful lubrication in the right places I could have them working okay, but I really don't want to take any chances with safety.

As ever, all advice gratefully received!

My seatbelts had been replaced by the PO
There's really 3 seperate issues to check with them
1) The belt material webbing and stitching
2) The latch and inertia mechanism function
3) The mounting points solidity
If you've still got yhe originals in there then item 1 is likely the most critical.

30-year-old nylon belt material is definately NOT safe and should be changed. That material will pop in an accident and it is like not having seat belts at all. All the popular vendors sell replacement belt setups, shoulder harness and retraction devices included. They are not OE exact replacements but look close enough and work very well. I got mine from Moss.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I have already decided that I will fit replacements, I am just trying to see what people think of the two options that seem to be available - different vendors seem to sell different models, both by Securon (514/30 and 500/30). Anyone fitted any recently? I would ideally like something that will bolt right in to the existing holes.

Thanks again

Again, not familiar with the Securon name. Could well be who built my unit from Moss. My TR6 came with retractable shoulder harness. The unit I bought was a direct bolt-in replacement. Very good quality. Just told them the year of my car and they sent the proper unit.
