TR6 TR6 Rear Wheel Cylinders

You can order them from Vicky Brit as part #7-946. These actually are original for all Morgans from 1959 - 1988 (+4, 4/4, +8) and Sunbeam Alpine series 1 & 2.

Alan:

Are these larger than stock TR6 wheel cylinders? I ask because I'm always looking for the little improvements I can make to my TR6.

Thanks.

Matt

Yes they are - early TR6 (and I believe TR4 - TR250 as well) are 0.70 and late TR6 are 0.75 if I remember correctly

I have read some conflicting articles about small and large wheel cylinders, One says more braking to rear with larger cylinder because of more piston surface area and one says that you get more rear braking with the smaller cylinder because there is more pressure on a smaller piston surface. Mabey someone out there knows what the real deal is and why??

I just answered this on 6-pack, but for those who are interested, Lee Jannsen published his test results of the difference. This is the only place where I found actual numbers (and I looked for some time).

scroll down on the left to "Brake Tests". He found the Morgan cyls to be better.

PO did mine - I just replaced them with new ones that didn't leak, so can't comment on the difference other than to say they work much better when they are adjusted properly /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Look on the left for brake tests.
