TR6 TR6 rear brakes--quick question

I'm rebuilding my rear brakes (grinding drums, new shoes, etc.) and the linkage from the emer. brake cable to the shoes was covered in years of crud. I've sanded them clean and they are now shiny bare metal.

Do I need to paint them. Thanks.

What could it hurt? A good coat of paint is always a good thing.

I powdercoated mine. Paint is fine too - they're steel and will rust if you don't coat them with something. Also use a smear of mechanical brake grease on the pivots if you have any.

Thanks, that was my thinking also. Guess I was hoping someone would say it's a bad idea so I could take the lazy way out. Paint it is.
