TR6 TR6 rear body shims [under trunk] what is ok?

I am finalizing adjusting door gaps and rear and front fender alignment and have reached a point where all the doors have an equal gap and proper rear edge alignment (no pooching out).

To achieve this, I shimmed the body to the frame at the four mounts under the cockpit, but needed to place two aluminum shims on the passenger side at the rear of the frame, and only one on the drivers side.

To the casual eye, everything looks OK, but upon critical inspection, one would note the passenger side body sits 1/4 inch higher above the frame.

Is this acceptable practice, or do I need to continue to tweaking the under cockpit shims?

This has been a very frustrating exercise.

Ray, (take this as it was meant, good naturedly)

Let me see if I've got this straight. You would actually pay attention to someone who bothered to measure a 1/4" difference spread over more than 12' of body length?

Unless your going for the concours class, I think that the difference will be imperceptible to the human eye. I would think that five lbs. less air pressure in one tire will affect the overall ride height as much, if not more, than that.

Brosky,

Yeah, I know, I tend to fixate on the minutia, probably my nuclear training and what later made me a good accountant and programmer. My experience to date with body work is it's like trying to square a glob of jello in the desert.

My concern is not so much seeing 1/4 inch more of my frame from the rear as to what, if any impact this will have on other body fitments.

I suppose I will just need to put the whole [censored] thing together and take a look. Then take it apart again for the paint and ..... it goes on and on.
