TR6 TR6 Pedal Box

Looking at the parts book and the service manual it seems like there are return springs on both the clutch and the brake pedal.

Which makes sense.

But when I put mine back together last night, I wasn't able to hook up the brake pedal return spring. Is this something that is needed? Or will the pressure of the system push it back on it's own?

Or is it that I am just an idiot and I can't figure out how to connect a spring to two holes?

Must be two idiots, then.

I bought new springs as well and never
figured out how to install them.

Both my pedals return just fine with
no springs attached.

Only use 1 return spring. An no cracks about something being backward. Went over about that already

Thanks Don,

I never thunk to put the spring where you did!

BUT I do know my Power Block wiring inside and out.
Sad to tell ya but you really DO have your G/W wire
180 degrees rotated from proper electric current flow.
Check the white twist direction. Ya better pull that G/W
wire out and switch ends!!

That's why god made needle nose pliers. Now if he could only figure a way for those dastardly brake light switches to not self destruct.....

All, as info, the two springs are used only on right hand drive cars AND I DON'T KNOW WHY!!!!

First.......Tinster.....don't do that to me! I'm reading about the direction of the spiral of the G/W wire and going WTF? For a second you had me going.

Here's how my brake & clutch springs look.......please ignore the brake fluid adorned pedal box. I should have sanded it down and painted it while I had everything disconnected. The yellow arrows show how the top and bottom of the spring are oriented to get them on.

Well Bob,

all I can say is I'm sure you are aware your brake
light switch has the wires reversed. As wired, your
brake lights are always ON but blink off when you push
the brake pedal downward. Ya best go check this out.
Might be important.
