TR6 TR6 Original Hardtops -- years that fit.

Sorry to revisit this a bit, but I am dreaming of finding
an original hardtop for my TR6, 1974.

Question is: What years, if any, would be interchangable?

What if a guy says he has one for a '72, '73 for example?
Anybody know what original hardtops work with a '74?

Need to change my name to: "Keep on Dreaming"???

I believe the answer is 'all years fit'. If you happen to find an older style Surrey Top, you shouldn't buy it, but instead send it on to me!

One top fits all.
The Surrey top will also fit the TR6, but they are eeeeexxxxpensive, if you can find one.

Expensive is an understatement - here's one that just finished a while back in England:
Ebay UK surrey sale

Of course I'm sure the buyer was a crazy person, maybe the same guy who bought the $90k TR4 a while back at Barrett Jackson. Pay no attention to the price, especially those of you on the forum who have one but would like to upgrade to a convertible frame - I have a couple of those to swap!

Good lord,
That's $4,500....

I am such a newbie. I have to ask: What's a Surrey?
I need to know in case I win the lottery.

I recognize you are from Santa Cruz. I am from Tracy, CA
and visited Santa Cruz on Valentine's Day. Spent the
day with the wife -- obviusly, she loves me cause she took
a day drive in the TR.

Lunch in San Francisco; drive sout on Hwy 1; dinner in
Santa Cruz on the wharf.

So I'm going to park. A gentleman stops and asks: Have
you joined our British Car Club? Gentleman's name was
Ed LaSalle. Do you know him?

Anyway, as it goes, we are sort of neighbors.
Dennis.

Sorry I hijacked your thread slightly with the surrey comments - the surrey top refers to the 3 piece top originally used on the TR4, TR4a, and TR5/TR250. It is made of a permanently installed backlight frame, and either a steel or aluminum hardtop, or alternatively a soft removeable 'surrey' top.

Personally, I think it looks best on the TR4 style body, but some people like it on a TR6 as well. Here's a great example:
