well I changed my oil on the TR6 for the first time yesterday. I have the original oil filter cannister on the car. What a pain!!
oil from my fingers to my elbows. I needed to be halfway under the car to get the darned thing back on.

Anybody have a spin on adaptor they want to get rid of cheap???

I used to call that the 'Captain Hazelwood Memorial Oil Change'.

I really like to maintain originality but I love the faster-than-a-jiffy-lube oil change that doesn't get a drop on me or the floor.
 
You know I have kind of gotten used to changing the cannister filters over the years, not loving it you understand, but used to it.

My TR250 is the first car I have swapped to a spin on, but that was mostly because I couldn't get the old filter out without taking parts off, I bent my own brake lines and I think that is part of the problem. Anyway the spin on solves that problem.

I waited around and got mine on E-bay for about $55 with a new filter included, the hardest part was getting the old cannister off (see above) the new one went on easily and no leaks, although I have heard of some having trouble.

The thing seems to build oil pressure faster with the spin on. That is one of the reasons cited for using one on a 250/6.

As far as the cannister filter change, I have a big oil container to catch the drips, it does get on my hands and such no matter how much I try to by tidy, but with practice it is really not too bad.

What I hate is that my "new" car (2004 Mazda 6s) makes more of a mess than I ever did with my TR4A. The oil filter placement is pointing is almost vertical and insures that oil will start to travel down the side of the block and oil filter the minute you start loosening the filter. I've taken to wrapping a baggie around it to catch a lot of it but still doesn't catch what travels down the block so have to keep a drip pan under the car when I change the oil. :frown:
