TR6 TR6 OE Mirror Replacement

Anyone know what type of Mirrors were installed as OE on the 1972 TR6. My TR6 had battle damaged black Bullet mirrors. I am on the fence about the Bullet mirrors because the right side is so hard to adjust. During this restoration I have found out that old components like mirrors have to be new or NOS to make the rest of the car with new paint look great.
I found these on ebay motors auction #260068855441. They look like old Triumph mirrors I have seen in the past. I do like the functionality of the ebay mirrors though.
Thanks.

Most mirrors were dealer installed so all kinds were used.

Go to texautomotive.com/classic_exterior_mirrors.html and you will find any of a number of door mirrors that will suit your fancy. I chose the Viewmaster Springback right and left mirrors for my TR6 and they work perfectly. These mirrors were the type usually installed on the Euro version of the TR6. They are extremely well made, Tex is a quality company that supplies most of the British cars with mirrors and wipers. The silly bullet mirrors that dealers installed here are worthless. Moss-UK handles Tex and I believe you can deal with them direct.

They look a lot like the UK spec ones I bought the last time I was over there. Difference is that the new ones cost me close on $130 plus shipping for the pair (another $10 but it was to a UK address).

Edit - I saw Bills post - mine are Tex. The people at the comapny are very pleasant to deal with, but their US stockist list is a bit out of date. You may end up calling a half dozen before finding someone that has what you want...

I can't tell you if they are better, or how hard they are to affix - I haven't got round to it yet...

They are simple to affix. In fact, the bases are slightly larger than the base for the bullet mirrors and the hole spacing is slightly larger so drilling an extra hole for the new mirrors is not a problem because the extra hole from the bullet mirror is hidden under the new base. Only you and I will know that they are there. Well, you and I and the other 7000 people on this forum.

Well since I am a cheap bugger...and the chrome on my single bullet mirror was REALLY bad...I painted the body of it silver(with about 5 coats of clear), the base of it black....and kept the glass surround chrome. Got my inspiration from the "Raydot mirror" MOSS sells...and I must say it looks pretty good.

Bullet mirrors because the right side is so hard to adjust

I had the same problem until I pasted a round convex mirror over the original. Adjustment problem gone, field of view great. Not sure it is legal everywhere, but it worked great.

TR6Bill,

You got a picture of your car with the viewmaster mirrors?

Trying my best but my camera not cooperating. The attachment in above post is very accurate depiction of the mirror. I have had many a compliment on them. They truly fit the car. You might try Moss-UK, may have to bug them a bit. They used to have them on their website but things changed there some time ago. An email to TEX may work.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the feedback. I think I will go with the Tex MB321's that TRBill uses. Happy New Years!!!
