TR6 TR6 not running

Hey guys I know it has been awhile. I have been finishing up school and finally graduated college.
My issue is that my TR6 won't start. The last time I had the car running it didn't have any power. I thought it might be the timing so I messed with the time. Come to find out the front carb wasn't working. The carb and the timing should be fixed now. THe timing is pretty close to where it needs to go. I have pertroniz in my distributor. I'm getting gas to the carb, the battery is good. The car is turning over. I'm getting power to the coil. I have had a spark plug out and it is sparking. What else could the problem be? I want to get the car on the road so I can drive it around. In the mean time I'll just drive my Miata. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? Thanks guys.

Is the spark plug wire on the dizzy that goes to cylinder #1 at approx. 7 o'clock, with 12 o'clock being just about inline with the oil fill cap?

I just this evening started my rebuilt engine after a couple of days of head scratching over a problem exactly as you describe. I had fuel to the carbs, spark from the plugs and compression in the cylinders. Still nothing. I adjusted the timing, I tried everything I could think of. Turned out that in trying to adjust the timing I had turned the distrobutor enough that I was firing at number 4 when I should have been firing number 1. Worth a quick look at the cap and the distributor when you know if should be fining number 1 to make sure you have the leads in the place you would expect. Stupid little mistake to make after all the effort of rebuilding the engine!

How did you set the timing?
