TR6 TR6 milage

I just bought a non running '1971 TR6 and was wondering what kinda milage a non O/D car gets. It's 100% stock. I'm debating weather to keep or sell it. i'm not too crazy about how the seats feel.

Depends on how you drive it. I get a little better mileage in my 74 TR6 than my 2002 Dodge 4x4 pickup -that's to say, not that good.

But given the choice, I prefer the driving the TR6.

I think I used to get in the low to mid 20's with the standard 4 speed.

As for the seats, Did you check to make sure the diaphragms are in good condition? Bad diaphragms can be just plain ugly to sit "in".

I average 21-22 mpg in a 4 speed. Triple Z-S carbs, 1.55 rockers, & GP2 cam, though.

I've been getting 20-22 mpg with my TR-6. The car is totally stock.

Mine get's unlimited gas mileage. In fact it is so good the last time I put gas in it was 1997.

This kinda reminds me of when I first started driving my car around out here in the country.
First questions the locals asked was about my gas mileage.
I really didn't keep score so I just had to tell them it was a sportscar not an economy car.

The last time I looked in PC Magazine where they rate the cars, they had the TR6 listed as 29 mpg.

That's the same question I always get in the Midget. I guess they don't kow what else to ask.

It's not the seat bottoms, but the backs that don't feel right. The car feels so much smaller than the Midget. I'm too close to the door.

I've always wantred one till I sat in this one. I've always wanted a MGA till I drove one. I NEVER wanted a Midget and I love it.

I just got a new job so I'll be able to keep this one a bit longer if I choose. I'd like to drive it but we all know what it'll need after sitting 28 years. I might see if a laocl memeber has one and will let me drive it to see if I care to keep it or not. I'm REALLY glad I didn't restore a MGA before I bought one. Beautiful cars but I was really disappointed with the way it performed.

Billie, put your butt in a Wedge. You'll never go back.

Dude, I've had wedgies and your right, I never wanna go "back" !!!

Aint been right since. It's the atomic ones you gotta watch out for.

Wouldn't mind a TR8

There are belt straps that run the length of the seatback that also age, stretch and break. Depending on the seat, I believe some of them are available, and others need to be reproduced. It's been a good while since I had mine done, but they are still comfortable.
