Any tricks to putting the seal on the piston? Other than heating it up and coating with fluid it has to go over a much larger flange to be put in place. Others I've talked to have not had good results.

I will follow this up with a silicone fluid conversation.

Keith, if I remember correctly, you will have better luck coming in from the other end.
Just be sure of the orientation.

That's what I love about the books. They tell you what to do without any ideas on how to do it. I've talked to some friends and they said the seal might split when you stretch it over the piston. My problem may be that my thumbs don't work the way they used to. I'll get it on one way or the other.

I saw that too Keith, but wasn't sure if you had that page or not. No hint there and I have never rebuilt on of these. I would use some silicone fluid to lube it then slide it over the small side, but be SURE that the seal is facing in the proper direction, so that it seals correctly.
 
Thanks again Paul. I even spoke to the TRF technical researce dept about it. They said to warm it up and coat with the type of fluid you plan to use which is a no brainer. They said they sold over 100 rebuild kits last year without a problem. I'll see how it goes today.
 
Just to help others in the future, take a few pictures while it's apart and you're installing them, then post them here so there will be a future reference to follow.

Jeez, I don't remember it putting up much of a fight ....
 
Hands are getting tired, arthritis. I did get the seal on and all is good now.
