TR6/M3 Project Update

In response to some recent emails, I have finally gotten around to taking some new pics of my TR6/M3 project. Unfortunately I'm still awaiting the body panels from my painter but that's about it. Just have to figure out what to do with the interior.

Here are a few pics but more have been uploaded into my photobucket site under "final assembly".

Dave

Thanks for sharing, I was starting to wonder what was going on. Looks real nice, ever think about a stock interior, give it that real sleeper appearance?

Re: TR6/M3 Project Update

I will leave the interior fairly stock with the exception of the Miata Seats and the Randy Keller/Prestige Autowood Dash. I have installed the top bows off an early TR4 and modified the w/s frame so I can use its completely removeable hood. I have no interest in purposely driving it in bad weather and like the cleaner look without the TR6 top mechanism folded up on the rear deck. So, I will use a combo of TR6 and TR4 Interior Pieces.

I do plan on making a custom center console as I have removed the parking brake handle (put a "park-lock" in to the rear discs) so as to incorporate an armrest and cup-holder (hey, I like my Starbuck's in the a.m.). Once all parts have been identified, I'll have the seats and panels re-skinned in leather to match. I completely Rhino Lined the interior, fender wells and bottom of the tub and am tempted to not put in carpets...just haven't decided yet.

That is just cool. What a project to take on. My hat's off to you.

Dave,

Any chance of getting a close up shots of the dash from a few different angles?

Re: TR6/M3 Project Update

Does anyone know where this project has gone since May 07?
Are you there Dave?

Re: TR6/M3 Project Update

I'm here. Roll Cage finished and installed and it's sitting at my painter's right this very minute. He's fixing the little blems I created putting it together. I'm waiting for the call to come down and bolt all the panels on. I should have had it done last year but my schedule and those donating their labor (paint and cage fabricator) have been tight. I called in all my favors I've had hanging out there so patience has been my most difficult hurdle to overcome on this thing.

I'm going to hold off on the interior until winter so I can at least have some fun in the sun this year with it. Again, another favor being cashed in for that as well so I'm sure it'll sit in her shop for a while.

I am sure it will go like a scalded dog!

So, what will you call it? A TRM3-6? :smirk:

TriuMMMph. I actually had a personalized license plate made for it two years ago that read TRMMMPH but this year it hit 35 years of age and became an "antique" in Kansas' eyes. We are allowed to put on a plate from the exact year of production of the car once they hit this age so I've been watching for a 1973 tag that was in good condition. I actually found an original un-installed one on eBay that reads "R 6" so I have now changed it over. Unfortunately 1973 KS plates were dark green with yellow letters but I still think it's cool to have a vintage plate on the car.

Okay, I will take it off you hands. $50, and I will pay the shipping home. You twisted my arm.
