Hello,
I posted this problem earlier in the week, but I need more help. Neither one of my horns work in my TR6. I don't know how long it has been since they have worked, because they did not work when I bought the car. I took one of the horns apart and cleaned all the corroded areas. It still does not work. The horns seem simple in principle, but I can not figure out what is wrong. What tests can I do to narrow down the problem? If I can't figure it out, does anyone know of someone reliable to rebuild these? (I also need someone to rebuild my washer motor.)

do they work if you connect them directly to the battery?
 
No clicking or anything? Did you actually disassemble the horn itself, or just remove them from their mountings and clean what was accessible? Did you try the horn adjustment screws?
 
I cleaned the contacts on the outside. When they failed to work, I removed the rivits and took the horn apart. I cleaned all contact points I could find. I reassembled and hooked the horn directly to the battery and turned the adjustment screw until it was tight - still nothing.
 
I wonder if the windings on the coils are grounded out... you could check the resistance with a volt meter. I'm not sure what the Ohms should be though. If they are the same as if you touch the probes together then you've got a shorted out coil.

Or... (I haven't looked inside one in years) Is there a way you could stick a little screwdriver in to see if it is drawn to the end of the coil when power is applied? Or push the point towards it and see if it sticks? The coil is an electromagnet and should be all "magnety" when power is applied (yeah - I'm not an engineer but I play one on TV).
