TR6 TR6 Heater Valve - EXPOSED

Brosky

Great Pumpkin
Offline
With all of the talk and debate about heater valves, both here and on 6-Pack, I decided to take one apart to see what is in there. I also found from Tom that there is a quality rebuilder in Wisconsin that will rebuild the original valves to work smoother, open and close easier than when new.

I will post the info about the rebuilder after I talk to him on Monday, but for now......this is the link to my page explaining the valve disassembly: Brosky Heater Valve Overhaul

excellent write up so far Paul, can't wait to see more.
boy , that CLR stuff works wonders, doesn't it? seemed to free up that spring...

Thanks. I can't see wasting these valves if they can be reused, especially if they can be made better than new, which seem to have their own issues at times.

Thanks Tom. I'll wait till Tuesday to call. I just want to know if he wants me to send everything along, which I would assume that he does. I respect his proprietary process and would expect to get back a fully assembled, smooth working valve. I just want to do all of the bling stuff up front before I send it, as he probably isn't interested in that stuff.

Paul, I would never doubt that you would respect his or anyone else's proprietary ideas. Oh, you will also have much better flow rate when the valve is open.
I really would have liked to tell you what he does but I promised him I would not tell anyone. And after yours is done it is a moot point anyway.

Does he also rebuild the reproduction units? I really don't use mine (only drive in nice weather), but the only way I can operate it is to move it from inside the engine compartment.

Hi Darrell, that I don't know but you can go to https://www.nosimport.com/ and contact Peter. Just remember that he does not normally go in on Mondays.

In case you have wondered if he does many shocks.
The photo shows some of the shocks in his shop awaiting rebuild. It won't take long because he has a full time crew rebuilding them.

Thanks, Tom. I guess he checks email on Sundays:

When I opened mine, there were pieces of the pieces you show on your site. Fortunately I had a second one, and from the two, I got one to work.

Nice job and write up.
