TR6 TR6 head torques?

Can some one tell me the correct head bolt torque settings for a 71' tr6...?

Label the studs on the manifold side front to rear K, G, C, A, E, I, M. Label the studs on the distributor side front to rear N, J, F, B, D, H, L. Thighten in two or three progressive stages in alphabetical order. This will help reduce the stress level on the head and block as you tighen them. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

my Triumph offical workshop manual states 60 to 75 lbs\ft for the cylinder head nuts.

I concur with Alec,
The 80lb might be a bit much. IMHO, torque to 65 and when you retorque, go to 75. Have you considered changing your head studs with new ones? Can't hurt.

I run a 10:1 compression engine at the figures I quoted, and with a spread as given I aim for about mid point.

I have been quite interested in this thread because my (cylinder) head is supposed to be finished tommorow.
My Bentley manual says 60 to 80. I am uncomfortable with such a range although I do know that an even torque is what matters most. I do like the 75 number a lot for two reasons. First it does fall in the range I mentioned and second if 80 is the top limit and my torque wrench is not properly callibrated I might easily exceed the limit. 75 gives me some piece of mind.
