TR6 TR6 HARDTOP GLASS [rear]

Hi Folks:

Have a friend who has a hard top for a TR6. Thinking of buying it from him. It doesn't have the rear glass but is in good shape in every other way.

How difficult is it to either find the glass or have a glass shop cut glass to fit the top.

By the way, glad I found this forum. I am in the process of restoring my '71 and look forward to chatting with folks.

the rear glass for a tr6 hardtop is curved,glass shops wont be able to cut one,they do come up on ebay sometimes and sell for about 150 bucks an up,the window glass is not available any more,your friends top is not worth a whole lot without that rear window

I had the same problem. Good hardtop but no back glass. A good piece of Plexiglas fixed that problem. Hard to tell any difference.

Lexan is better than plexiglass. If you can get some Lexan MR10 (also known as Lexan with marguard) that's what Nascar uses for their windscreens. It's a lot more scratch resistant than the other polymer or acrylic glass substitutes. 3/16 lexan is probably the best (actually i think it's .177 slightly less than 3/16, but they make lexan in weird thicknesses)

I just checked my Rimmer Bros catalog. They do list hardtop parts for the TR6 including a catalog number for the rear glass. However I could not find a price (expressed in Brit Pounds). They also note that they have Lenham hardtop parts which I presume is aftermarket.

I bought the top. So, Thanks for all the posts. I'll check out Rimmer Bros. and if I can't find a glass, I'll try the Lexan.

Meanwhile, if anyone hears of glass for a TR6, please let me know. Surely there is a top that isn't worth much with good glass. Positive thinking.
