About 1972 or so the quoted HP for the GT6 dropped from 95 to 79. Some if not all of the change was attributed to a change from using Gross to SAE net HP ratings, something that I think most if not all manufacturers did when quoting HP in the USA about this time.
My question is why didn't the TR6 see a similar drop, quoted HP for the TR6 stayed in the 100+ range in the USA throughout production.
I know they did some changes to camshaft and exhaust through the TR6 production, was this enough to more or less overcome the change from gross to net HP quoted? I am guessing not or the later cars actuallyy would have been a litle faster than the early ones. Or maybe Triumph fudging a little to keep the TR6 over 100 quoted HP. But if they fudged on the TR6 why not on the GT6?
Any knowledge of this out there? or discussion/educated guesses?
