TR6 TR6 grille repair - thoughts? Options?

So picked up reasonably priced used grille...far better shape than my current. BUT it still has decent rot on the lower edge (see pic). I could install and it'll probably be fine for 10+ years. That said, is there any way to strengthen/repair that lower edge? Possible thoughts include:

  • Assuming the top and bottom are the same, cut the top out of the old grille and make it the new lower edge on the replacement (studs seem to line up the same top and bottom)
  • Fill the space with something that will bind the pieces together and keep them intact/create a bit more structure (I dunno - smear some JB weld in there?)

Thoughts? anyone else ever repair this area?

Hi Cam,

Tough call on that repair. Do you want me to check if I might have a spare grill that is in better shape? Yours for free if I do.

Cheers

Ok, let me have a look Cam...might take a couple of days....im not sure if its in the garage, the basement or the shed....too many cars, too many parts

There are worse things in this world than too many cars/parts! Thanks - let me know! In the meantime, I may try a few things in small spots to see if I have a back up plan...

Hi Cam,

Unfortunately, the grill that I have only has the center section. It doesn't have the outside surround piece. Your welcome to the center section, but I don't think that will help you.

Cheers
