I'm attempting to purchase some competition springs for my tr6, but the springs a local place is offering me has the same or similar markings as some standard springs offered on the internet. They both are black painted springs with dabs of blue and green paint. The springs at the local store have a blue/green/blue marking whereas the ones on ebay have a blue/green marking. these springs may have the extra blue marking, but the springs are photographed stategically so you can't see if there's another blue dab next to the blue/green dabs. The local place with the three marking is charging $90 for their springs. The ebay seller is offering his for $48. What do the dabs of paint mean and are the springs I'm looking at the same or different depending on the number and color of dabs?

p.s. Are these U.S. manufactured or foreign?

I cannot tell whether they are manufactured in the U.S. or not, in fact they might even be from different sources, although not likely with the dabs appearing the same. If you knew the manufacturer you could tell what the paint dabs mean, otherwise not. Important specs are the free length of the springs and the compression rate in lbs. per inch. Ask the vendors about these ratings and you will know if they suit your purpose.

I got the competition springs for my TR6 from British Parts Northwest, <bpnorthwest.com> , and was very satisfied with their knowledge of Triumph suspension facts. I had gotten some competition springs form another well known vendor and nothing worked out well. The guys at BPNW knew their stuff and I was very satisfied. I know I am not supposed to hawk any particular vendor, but I was bailed out by someone who knew what they were talking about. They are also the guys who manufacture the bracket for tube shock conversions for the 6, which other vendors sell.

Applause to TR6Bill. This is exactly the kind of helpful information that makes this forum so good. I don't mind getting a reference to a good vendor especially when you can back it up with personal experience. Good luck Pepe.
