TR6 TR6-freeze plugs , Gasket , Oil pump, Questions?

Im getting my engine back together and have gotten to the front engine plate, but before I install it there are two round water jacket holes on the front of the block below the top of the deck that need plugs. Do theese take regular freeze plugs or are they a special order item ?, thier size is 1" and 1 1/2", the roadster factory only shows one plug in thier catolog. My gasket kit has two front plate gaskets --one has an irregular shaped hole to go over the front crank--what gives??. You always see the recomendation to put vasoline in the oil pump to help prime it,--why not just using grease??
 
I don't know for sure why the vasi, but my guess is that you want something that is soluable in oil so that it goes away once the oil is in there. I have had great luck priming the oil system by driving the oil pump with an electric drill and a rod going down the shaft hole the dizzy normaly sits. That way you can get full oil pressure and circulation before you even turn the engine over.
 
Roadster Factory answered my questions

The two water jacket holes can be filled with regular freeze plugs, The gasket with the irregular crank hole is not used--some gasket companys add it, it was used for some industrial application. The Roadster Factory does not recomend Vaseline to fill the oil pump---they recomend assembly lube, same as what they use for the complete engine assembly.
