TR6 TR6 Engine #'s

I tried a search but could not find the info I need. Can anyone guide me to a site tt shows TR6 engine #'s by year? Thanks in advance
Bruce

I am sure that someone will have a better answer, but from what I understand, the engine numbers follow pretty much the same pattern as the commission numbers, i.e. CC/CF to start and then up to 5 numbers. There is a suffix of UE for US market cars (might have just been an E on early cars?) For UK cars, the prefix would be CP or CR. The commission and engine numbers should be close, but probably won't match, so for example, my commission number is 250 or so higher than my engine number. I would think that looking at the tables of commision numbers for each year (you can find them fairly easily, e,g, www.rimmerbros.co.uk has the tables) would give a pretty good idea of the age of the engine.

Hope that helps

Alistair,
Thanks for the help. The motor is in a TVR and I was trying to make sure of the year of the motor. The Rimmer Bros. site was very helpful, and answered my question.

Just an observation....this is a great site! The folks are very friendly and helpful (actually not too surprising from British Car Folks). I have been on some sites where you are afraid to ask a question or give an opinion for fear of getting your head torn off. Certainly that is not the case here. Keep up the good (great) work!

Hayden,
You're right....with TVR you just never know. You can't even tell with the "year" of the car, as some sat a long time and were re-titled to a newer year..!
