TR6 TR6 engine rebuilt

tell more about that weak spot. Is it possible to buy frame parts?
thing is we are neither equipped or willing to swap the frame

has somebody ever tried to weld with bad results?

we don't have 10k available neither

I welded a new box section onto my frame when I was restoring my 6. Since the trailing arm section of the frame is a troublesome area, they do sell the box section to repair it.
I believe the RATCO frames are in the neighborhood of $4,675US or close to it but of course you can go to their site to check it out.

If your front frame looks that bad you best drop the differential unit and look at the pins and frame that hold the differential in place, I would almost bet you have cracking there too. Front right side is most prone to crack,

Can you repair it? most likely with a very good welder, Cheaper than new ratco frame, Probably, you need to get a copy of Roger Williams book, in fact a lot of his pics on frame issues look just like your frame. Also since you are in Canada looks like a lot of salt damage too

maybe you can find a better frame on ebay. Or a local Triumph club could help you out

Sorry you found all that mess to deal with.

thanks hondo. the car is summer driven stored in winter so I don't salt has anything to do with it. But I apreciate the input and I will most defenitly take a look a the rear diff

Hey what ever it takes to get it back on the road
just every now and again, like changing oil, keep an eye on the weled areas and make sure they dont crack again

Yeah that's what I believe. My friend is really soft with is car, feathering the throttle not getting over 3krpm, and rides less than fifteen minutes. It's not beaten at all. We might not even get past the break-in berore the autumn.

Hey I understand that, I just now have 800 miles on my new engine and its been in a year. But then I live in Charlotte and dont like driving it during the day because of all the crazy drivers in town, I usually take it out on Sat or Sun mornings at 7 am when there is no traffic on the road and less chance of thunder storms

getting the pistons in was long because we don't have a ring compressor and at first, some of the rods were on the wrong side

then we bolted the oil pan right after we dropped a bolt in! I got the cam shaft in and went home, it was late.
