TR6 TR6 electronic ignition.

The Lucas ballast resistor I have (ceramic, straps to side of coil) is 2.4 ohms.

I think you want the whole thing (coil & ballast) to have a resistance somewhere around 3.7 ohms.

There has certainly never been a concensus about Pertronix as many are using them with no problems so far. There does, however, seem to be a notable lack of threads with subject lines like "My points just quit working & I don't know why".
 
I have an alison sysem with a sport coil that I had on a 70 tr6 that came off when I traded it in on my new Mustang. I then put it on an old 68 chevy van. took it off when I sold that and put it on my 74 TR6. It will come off that and go on my "New" 72 TR6. It's been on the road in one vehicle or another for 15 years. It's never missed a beat.
