Hi all, My name is Tom and I'm a newbee to the BCF. I'm looking for any info on installing a pertronics ignition in my TR6. Is this pretty straight forward or are there some tricks I need to know? Thanks

Welcome to the Forum, Tom!

The installation is pretty simple. I put one in my TR3, and have had no trouble at all. The only thing I can remember to watch for is the routing of the wire inside the distributor. Make sure you have enough slack for the advance to operate.

There has been quite a lively debate over the merits of changing from points to pointless(!), and one thing you might want to consider is keeping a spare handy in the event the Pertronix should fail. If it does, your whole world stops! One easy way is to get a spare plate, complete with condenser and points for an easy replacement.

Also always remember not to leave the ignition "ON" without the engine running. That'll fry the Pertronix unit.
