Hey, someone posted information on replacement door switches but I cannot find it, any help would be appreciated, seems one of the previous owners took the switches out, the tunnel lamp is gone and the reverse lights dont work, more things I am working on

thanks

Depending on what switch you have and need. Some are unubtanium.

Different left & right, if you have a US model (the LH switch has an extra pair of contacts for the ignition buzzer). But both seem to be NLA. They do show up occasionally on eBay, though.

Or you might be able to fabricate something that would work, using a metal tab threaded to accept a screw-in switch. Be careful to get the spacing to the door right though, you don't want to crush the switch or worse yet, the door.

I've got a spare two-post unobtainium switch. The original manufacturer was Brycrest. Let me know if you want it:

But the YKC940 is only listed for 73-onwards TR6.

I don't know if this is true for TR6, but on Stags, the later YKC940 switch is too long to fit a 71 model. I thought about cutting one down, and adding a relay to make it work electrically, but managed to glue an original switch back together and make it work instead.

I did not know there was a "year" attached to this switch. I can't imagine that it would not fit the TR6, but.....
The only thing I found was <span style="font-style: italic">"TR6 from commission nos. CP50001"</span>

Well, maybe it would fit. But CP50001 would be a 1970 fuel injected (ie not US-spec) TR6; and according to TRF, YKC940 only fits from CF12500 and CR5001 (which would be 74-on, not 73 as I said before).

In cases of disagreement, I'm much more inclined to believe TRF than Rimmers. Fully half of the last shipment of parts I got from Rimmers did not fit my car, in spite of what they claimed.

You are right Randall... Under "North American Electricals" Rimmer lists the switch as fitting "TR6 From commissuion no. CF12501"
Thanks for catching that...

Well I just ordered the DJ-26 switches from Ron Francis wiring, so I will find out if they work. Easy rider thanks for that link great to know there is information like that on the net! I am assuming that the door switches are just a grounding circuit, and I mean that when you open the door the circuit is made by completing the the ground wire and light goes on? anyway the switches are ordered and I will find out.

I have come across my information again, please note for future reference, the Borg/Warner number for this switch is"S794" This switch looks nice and works well. While NOT exactly like the one you cant get anymore,it is the one and only OTC that will get the job done.....
