Could use some advice, my TR6 doors on the top inside corner up near the A post lower windshield intersection has developed a small hole where the rust has eaten it away. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

This is caused I guess by the water running down the seal between door seal next to the windshield onto this area. Doors seem OK other than this.
Any suggestions on the best repair strategy?

IMHO you need to get metal in there to repair it correctly. As its pretty hard to get at that spot with the door on the car, I'd recommend removing it and having your local body shop put in a new piece of metal. It will make it much easier to sand and paint that area with it off the car as well. Good luck,

Graham, the trouble with rust is you are seeing only the tip of a very ugly iceberg. Doors are easy to find, or re-skin if needed, so make double sure you dont spend $$$ on a door that has more rust comming soon. Modern tech on a re-skin is to use a metalbonding epoxy and a little spot of migwelding in the corners as needed. This will let you de-rust the seams and stop it for the life of the car.

I agree with MD after thinking about this a bit more Graham. I had both door skins replaced on my doors during my rebuild and it looks as original and the skins are fairly inexpensive ( about 100 dollars a side). A good body shop can install them. The only problem with going to that extent is repainting an entire door and matching your paint color.

Holy cow, before you jump off the deep end pull the door panel.
look in side completly.Really look hard at the bottom where the front skin meets the bottom in the seam area.If solid, then proceed to clean up the rust hole.Open it up a little, any welder worth his salt can mig or braze the hole shut with very little paint damage.
