I looked at the local chain websites and no could find a part listed for the TR250/6 front pinion seal for the diff, I know I can order one, but anybody know if there is a cross reference or part number for this part so I can go get it and get going, I am guessing NAPA etc, have something just not in the computer?

This is the pinion seal that I installed a few months ago in my TR6....

edit: part number is the same as the one Poolboy shows in his link

Thanks guys, just to verify, this is the seal that goes where the driveshaft connects, not the axles, I did find the axle pinion seals listed several places, anyone know if this can be replaced with the pumpkin still mounted on the car?

thanks

Wow - really guys? When I got mine apart and the specialist I use for this sort of thing when to put the new seal in Moss had sent him a 250 seal and it didn't fit right. We then went to a local uber-parts store (that supplies other stores like NAPA) and they didn't have anything that was exactly right.

YES, this is the seal that goes on the flange that connects to the drive shaft. I think you will have to drop the diff since the front mounting plate needs to be removed to install the seal. Also, I took my flange to a machine shop and had it polished so the seal fit nice and snug before I reinstalled it.

Sorry about that!
One more thing... make sure the diff is well supported on a jack. It is HEAVY and can be DANGEROUS if it falls.... stay out of the way.

Thanks for the warning, of course I had the thing off a couple months ago but didn't replace the seal.......

A couple of months ago I finally got fedup with diff. fluid all over my garage floor.
I was amazed when I got the original seal out... it was made of leather! Be careful not to score the wall when you remove the seal.
